Vito – The Life of Gay Activist Vito Russo (A HBO Documentary)

In the aftermath of Stonewall, a newly politicized Vito Russo found his voice as a gay activist and critic of LGBT representation in the media. He went on to write ”The Celluloid Closet,” the first book to critique Hollywood’s portrayals of gays on screen. During the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Vito became a passionate advocate for justice via the newly formed ACT UP, before his death in 1990.

Polo LCSW has provided the trailer to Jeffery Schwarz’s new documentary of  Vito Russo’s life story, It’s one of a man ahead of his time who one of the “foundling Fathers” of the gay movement told by him and those who loved him. Mr. Schwartz’s film artfully showcases the intelligence, courage,  passionate drive,  and loving heart of this legendary American.  Vito’s story is an inspiration to all on the gifts of living life authentically  & the power it can have in changing the world around us.
